This pendant lamp from the 1940s exemplifies the modernist approach to form and material, characteristic of early mid-century design. Its shade, crafted from opaline glass in a warm milky tone, creates a sculptural two-tiered silhouette – with a central spherical body and a wide, gently flared ring. The glossy, smooth finish accentuates the soft lines of the glass. Brass elements, including a conical upper fixture, a ceiling canopy, and a robust decorative chain with oval links, complement the glass. The brass retains a satin sheen with areas of patina and minor wear, typical for its age. All connections are precise, with visible screws attaching the brass ring to the glass. The lamp’s proportions are harmonious: the wide shade counterbalances the slender drop of the chain. Condition is very good, with no cracks or chips in the glass and only subtle traces of use on the brass.This lamp carries the spirit of the 1940s, when modernism sought simplicity without shying away from decorative accents.
