ABOUT PRODUCTID 20610
The PH 4/3 pendant lamp, designed by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen in Denmark during the 1960s, is crafted from precisely formed aluminum in a deep, saturated red shade with a hint of burnt orange. Its three-tiered construction relies on overlapping shades that ensure even light diffusion and eliminate glare. The satin-matte finish covers the entire lamp—from the wide, gently flared top disc through the two layered lower shades, down to the seamless, smooth body. A black textile suspension cord provides a striking visual contrast. There are no visible joints or rivets, emphasizing the purity of the form, characteristic of Danish mid-century modernism. Condition: very good; the surface of the shades is smooth, with no dents or prominent signs of wear, and only minimal traces of age. This lamp embodies the voice of Scandinavian design from the 1960s, where light and function take precedence over ornamentation. The geometry of the shades and their satin finish suggest an architectural pursuit of calm and harmony—the lamp seems to "whisper" that everyday life can be orderly and bright if light is allowed to diffuse unobstructed. The distinctive red hue does not dominate but gently warms the space, creating a sense of balanced energy. The PH 4/3 lamp works well above a dining table, in a living room, or a home office designed in the spirit of mid-century modern or Scandinavian
