ABOUT PRODUCTID 24873
The PH 5 pendant lamp, designed in 1958 by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen, stands as an icon of Danish modernism. Crafted entirely from aluminum, its layered construction features wide, gently curved shades in a deep, matte red, contrasted by a cool, matte white on the uppermost and inner surfaces. Delicate lavender-blue metal struts connect the layers, emphasizing the precision and lightness characteristic of 1960s Scandinavian design. The lamp measures 50 cm in diameter and 27.6 cm in height, ensuring even, glare-free light diffusion. The shades' satin finish creates a subtle interplay of light, while the black textile-covered cord and new metal ceiling canopy complete the ensemble. The lamp is in very good vintage condition, with only minimal signs of age-appropriate use visible, retaining its original lacquer and components. The PH 5’s form tells a story of an era when light itself became a subject of thoughtful design. Each shade layer is engineered to softly filter light, creating an environment where the eyes can rest and conversation can flow. The matte red and white evoke the calm of northern interiors in the 1960s, where function and beauty were harmoniously intertwined. The lamp seems to whisper tales of precision and balance, reflecting the quiet sophistication of early Scandinavian modernism—its radiance
