ABOUT PRODUCTID 28555
The PH 5 pendant lamp, designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958 for Louis Poulsen, is a hallmark of Danish modernism from the 1960s. Its aluminum construction features a layered arrangement of wide, curved shades, forming a harmonious silhouette measuring 50 cm in diameter and 27.6 cm in height. The main shade displays a matte red finish, contrasted by white elements on the upper and inner surfaces. Lavender-blue connectors between the layers highlight the precision of the design, while the satin surface reveals subtle light transitions. The lamp is equipped with a black textile cord and a new metal ceiling rose; all details, including concealed joints and the smooth exterior, attest to the high quality of craftsmanship. The lamp is preserved in very good condition, showing only minimal signs of use characteristic of authentic vintage pieces. The PH 5 tells a story of an era when light was an object of careful design reflection. Each layered shade was conceived to gently diffuse light and prevent glare—a voice from Northern interiors where design fostered harmony and calm. The matte red and white palette suggests the peaceful atmosphere of 1960s Scandinavia, while lavender accents introduce a sense of lightness. The lamp conveys the spirit of an age in which the balance between function and form shaped the living environment. The PH 5 can be suspended above a dining table, in a living room, or over a kitchen island—its expansive shades will focus the light on the central area of the room. It pairs well with light
