ABOUT PRODUCTID 12352
The PH5 pendant lamp, designed by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen, stands as an icon of twentieth-century Danish design. This particular piece dates from the 1980s and features four horizontally flared metal shades with a soft, matte surface in a warm white tone. The layered, geometric construction ensures precise light diffusion both downward and laterally, providing glare-free illumination while showcasing the lamp’s own sculptural presence. Slender, dark-colored struts connect the shades and emphasize the structural clarity of the design. The lamp is suspended from a white cord approximately 200 cm in length. Preserved in very good vintage condition, the surface remains even and uniform, with no yellowing, dents, or significant wear. The PH5 tells the story of Scandinavian modernism, where light is treated almost as a material in itself. When Poul Henningsen designed this lamp in 1958, his guiding principle was to create eye-friendly illumination: the multi-shade system shapes a gentle glow, eliminating glare and fostering an atmosphere conducive to conversation and gathering. The lamp acts as a quiet narrator of its era, underscoring the value of everyday simplicity and attention to detail. Even when switched off, its silhouette retains clarity and presence, reflecting ambient light and subtly shifting character with the time of day.The PH5 is ideally placed
