ABOUT PRODUCTID 33901
This pendant lamp, designed by Aloys F. Gangkofner in Germany during the 1960s, epitomizes the mid-century modern pursuit of material experimentation and sculptural form. The shade is constructed from six substantial panels of clear glass, each deeply textured with vertical grooves that evoke the look of melting icicles. Every panel is accented with a bold, convex insert of vivid red glass, decorated with a bubble-relief pattern, intensifying the interplay of light and color. The palette is restrained—transparent glass, vibrant red, and matte white details on the cord and conical ceiling canopy, crafted from plastic. Metal connectors are visible at the top, lending a robust character to the construction. With a diameter of 31 cm and a shade height of 20 cm (overall height 70 cm), the lamp is proportioned to serve as either a striking centerpiece or a sophisticated accent. It is preserved in very good vintage condition, showing only minor, superficial traces of use typical for its era, with no visible cracks or significant damage. This lamp expresses the spirit of a time when glass and color were called upon to transform ordinary interiors into stages for everyday rituals.
