This French perfume bottle, dating from around 1900, is an example of Art Nouveau craftsmanship. Made from high-quality cut crystal glass, the bottle features vertical concave fluting (cannelures) over its entire surface, lending a tactile, luminous quality. Its transparent glass, with a subtle golden hue near the base, forms a flattened silhouette with a rounded shoulder and a flat base adorned with a starburst cut visible through the glass. The neck and stopper are mounted in sterling silver, hallmarked with French silver marks; the collar is smooth and polished, while the cap is embellished with a raised acanthus leaf motif. Beneath the silver cap, an additional glass stopper ensures an airtight seal. The construction is precise, with seamless joins between silver and crystal, and the overall condition is excellent with no visible damage or wear. The bottle’s form evokes the turn of the 20th century, when Art Nouveau transformed everyday objects with nature-inspired ornamentation and flowing lines.
