This miniature millefiori photo frame, crafted in Italy at the end of the 19th century, is a refined example of mosaic artistry. The structure is formed from gold-toned brass, with the entire front surface covered in a vibrant glass mosaic—its background composed of creamy white tesserae set in a herringbone pattern and bordered by a slender red glass line. The most striking feature is the raised floral garland, made of tiny glass rosettes in deep blue, sky blue, yellow, orange, burgundy, violet, and white, accented with green leaves. The oval photo aperture (5.6 × 8 cm) is surrounded by a fine, twisted brass rim, and the whole is supported by two small, polished brass ball feet. The shield-like shape, with gently curved sides and a pointed top, combines with the glossy, textured mosaic surface to create a visually engaging piece.
