This photo frame in the Napoleon III style was crafted in France around 1880 using cast and chiseled bronze, later gilded to achieve its refined surface. The frame’s rectangular form (height 11 cm, width 11.6 cm) is defined by classic, symmetrical proportions and a smooth, matte gold finish with subtle traces of patina and age-related darkening. The front is embellished with a laurel garland relief, particularly prominent in the ornate crest at the top—a motif characteristic of the Second Empire era. A repeating leaf pattern runs along the border, accentuating the frame’s decorative appeal. The glass pane protects the photograph, and the back is equipped with a movable support for standing as well as a hook for wall mounting. Designed for a 9.5 × 7.5 cm photo, the frame shows minor signs of wear and gentle tarnishing, consistent with its age and authenticity.
