This free-standing photo frame, dating from around 1830, originates from France during the July Monarchy period. Its elliptical form is crafted from white metal or low-grade silver, featuring a cool, bright, subtly matte finish. The frame is richly decorated using openwork and hand-engraving techniques: the finely cut ajour areas and crisp, detailed engravings demonstrate highly skilled craftsmanship. At the top, two three-dimensional muses hold up a garland in a gesture of glory, creating a harmonious and symmetrical composition. Botanical motifs—large blossoms and leafy branches—are visible at both the upper and lower sections, emphasizing a naturalistic, early romantic style. The rear support stand is also engraved and bears visible maker's marks. The frame is designed for a photo measuring approximately 4 x 7.5 cm and is sold without a photograph. Its condition is very good—there are no damages, dents, or significant traces of wear; the metal retains its original sheen and shows no signs of restoration.
