ABOUT PRODUCTID 12488
This early 20th-century Art Nouveau pickle spoon, crafted by the Bracia Buch workshop in Warsaw, is emblematic of Central European metalwork from the era. Created from silver-plated brass, the spoon features a shell-shaped bowl articulated with deep, undulating grooves and finely pierced holes, resembling the veining of a leaf. The slender, subtly waving handle is richly decorated with reliefs of stylised stems and blooming flowers, motifs archetypal for the turn of the 20th century. The surface exudes a warm, gently aged silvery hue, alternating between satin and gloss finishes that accentuate the sculptural and ornamental details. The craftsmanship reveals seamless transitions and an overall solidity, with no signs of wear, replacements or repairs; the piece is preserved in very good, authentic condition, showing only a natural patina consistent with its age.The spoon echoes the sensibility of the Art Nouveau movement in early 20th-century Central Europe—a period when tableware became an artistic manifesto. The fan-shaped bowl evokes reflections and shifting light, while the swirling botanical forms on the handle recall the atmosphere of conversations in fin-de-siècle Warsaw parlours. Its ornamental language brings to mind the quiet ritual of historic dining, where minute details reflected the intersection of daily life with the highest standards of craftsmanship. This pickle spoon can be presented in a display cabinet among other refined table accessories or complement Belle Époque-inspired table settings. It will harmonise with porcelain bearing botanical motifs, with cut crystal vessels, or with colourful glassware in Art Nouveau style. It may be set upon a linen tablecloth for celebratory occasions, or paired with tableware from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, suiting both traditional and eclectic table arrangements.
