ABOUT PRODUCTID 8251
This pendant lamp, designed by Bent Karlby for Schroder Kemi in Denmark during the 1970s, exemplifies the minimalist and functionalist ethos of Scandinavian modernism. The lamp is crafted from glossy white plastic with a cool undertone, featuring a smooth, reflective surface. Its structure is defined by a conical upper section that flows seamlessly into a series of concentric, stepped rings forming the shade. There are no decorative accents or color variations—geometric purity and proportion are at the forefront. The lamp is suspended from a white textile-covered cord, complemented by a new metal ceiling rose. The reflective system within the lamp diffuses light both downward and outward, softly illuminating the fixture itself and the space around it. The piece is preserved in very good condition, with no visible cracks or significant wear—only a minor scorch mark at the bottom, consistent with age. This lamp echoes the spirit of the 1970s, when Scandinavian design celebrated clarity of form and the subtle beauty of everyday materials. Its layered construction seems to narrate a search for balance between light and shadow—light gently washes over the white rings, producing a soft, non-glaring glow. The lamp speaks in the voice of its era: “modernity can coexist with gentleness.”It could be suspended above a dining table or as a central feature in the living room, where its flowing silhouette and neutral color palette create a tranquil backdrop for other interior elements. The lamp pairs well with light-toned wooden furniture, understated textiles, and ceramics with natural textures, achieving a sense of harmony typical of Scandinavian interiors. It would also be at home in eclectic vintage-inspired arrangements or minimalist settings, where its geometric form serves as a subtle focal
