ABOUT PRODUCTID 15640
This antique ceramic pitcher from the early 20th century embodies rustic craftsmanship, where vivid color and traditional folk-decorative techniques meet utilitarian purpose. Hand-thrown from glazed ceramic in a rich forest-green tone with a glossy finish, it shows subtle irregularities and gentle craquelure typical for artisanal work. The cylindrical form tapers smoothly towards the neck to ensure easy pouring. At the base, five horizontal bands in warm yellow ochre, each hand-applied, accompany stylized orange and brown floral motifs at mid-body – a clear nod to folk art. The gently scalloped yellow band just below the rim, along with the robust, rounded single handle, completes the composition while affirming its intended function for table service, whether for pouring liquids or displaying flowers. The pitcher remains in excellent condition for its age: minor surface abrasions, no chips or significant cracks, with signs of light craquelure and glaze irregularities authentic to age and handcraft. This piece seems to echo the voices of rural kitchens from Central or Eastern Europe: the gleam of its glaze reflecting moments of simple celebration, its floral bands recalling festive family traditions. The pitcher speaks of days when every vessel bore the painter
