ABOUT PRODUCTID 36863
The 'Phaenomen Genres' pitcher, crafted by Loetz Witwe in 1899 during the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is a remarkable example of Art Nouveau glass artistry. The body is hand-blown from opalescent glass and features a striking iridescent finish with swirling, feather-like patterns. The coloration shifts smoothly from deep cobalt blue at the base through turquoise and green tones to subtle yellows at the upper section, all unified by the metallic sheen characteristic of Loetz creations. Ornate gilded pewter mounts—including a sculptural handle and lid adorned with grapevine motifs—exemplify the organic lines and botanical inspiration of the Art Nouveau movement. The silhouette is slender and elongated, with a broad, stable base and a narrow neck. The piece is in very good condition, showing no visible chips, cracks, or repairs; the mounts retain their original luster with only minimal signs of wear. This pitcher resonates with the spirit of the late 19th century, a time when nature served as a central source of inspiration for artists and artisans. Its mosaic of colors and interplay of light, combined with the fluidity of the metalwork, reflect the essence of Art Nouveau: a balance between function and refined ornamentation. The glass comes alive as it catches the light
