This plant stand/étagère, designed by Emile Guyot for Thonet in 1930s Germany, exemplifies the Bauhaus approach to form and function. The structure is built from tubular steel, later repainted in a matte silver-grey tone, shaped into smooth, continuous curves with visible welds and straightforward connectors. It is completed by two remaining thick, clear glass shelves with softly rounded corners and a subtle greenish tint typical of vintage glass; originally, the piece featured four shelves. The straight, vertical legs end in small, integrated wheels, allowing for easy repositioning within an interior. The open, minimalist frame maintains a sense of transparency and lightness, exposing the industrial character of the materials and the honest construction details. Minor scratches and small chips are visible on the glass and metal, consistent with age and everyday use.
