ABOUT PRODUCTID 24259
The decorative plate 'Kora' is a notable example of 1960s Polish design, created by Elżbieta Piwek-Białoborska and hand-painted by Katarzyna Mirolewicz at the Włocławek Faience Factory. Crafted from glazed ceramic, the plate features a round form with a diameter of 24 cm and a height of 4 cm, gently sloping sides, and a flat base. The composition centers on a cool, semi-transparent olive green, enriched with deep green accents and dotted white motifs. The broad rim, shaded in dark gray and black, frames the abstract pattern, while the glossy, glazed surface bears subtle brush marks, adding texture and depth. Authentically signed by the artist on the underside. The condition is very good, with no visible damage or restoration, and only minimal signs of age.The abstract decoration and organic contours of 'Kora' echo the mid-century modern search for expressive freedom, where intuitive color and gestural brushwork merge with the artisanal discipline of Polish functional ceramics. The smooth, glazed surface reflects light like a lake at dawn, while the olive and forest tones evoke natural landscapes reimagined through the avant-garde vision of the 1960s. Each brushstroke tells the story of the painter’s hand, making the plate both a painting and a utilitarian object – a silent witness to an era when everyday items acquired an artistic dimension. The 'Kora' decorative plate may be displayed on a low coffee table in the living room or on a console in the entry
