ABOUT PRODUCTID 24264
The 'Kora' decorative plate is a design by Elżbieta Piwek-Białoborska, produced by the Włocławek Faience Factory in the 1960s and hand-painted by Bożena Awarska. Its round, shallow profile (approx. 4 cm high, 24 cm diameter) is distinguished by a high-gloss glazed surface. The primary color is a soft olive green with watercolor-like transitions, enriched by accents of more intense green. The central motif features bold, black, hand-painted zigzag strokes arranged in two intersecting bands on a creamy white background, creating a striking contrast and visual depth. The plate's surface is smooth with visible brushwork and subtle relief where the glaze has pooled, highlighting the artisanal, unique character of each piece. The signature on the reverse confirms its authenticity and individual origin. The plate is preserved in very good vintage condition, with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of significant wear. This plate speaks in the language of 1960s Polish modernism, blending nature-inspired abstraction with the boldness of expressive gesture. Its form and decoration evoke the texture of tree bark lit by sunlight—black zigzags resembling the shadows of leaves on a summer meadow, while olive hues melt across the surface like watercolor on porcelain. The dynamic brushwork and delicate glaze bring forth the spirit of an era when Polish ceramics sought a balance between function and artistic freedom, each example carrying the mark of the artist's hand and the creative optimism of its time. The 'Kora' plate may be displayed on a
