ABOUT PRODUCTID 38296
The 'Trzej Amigos' decorative porcelain plate is a modernist piece from the 1950s, manufactured by the renowned Wałbrzych Porcelain Factory. It features smooth, high-quality porcelain and a striking, high-contrast black and white decoration with a matte finish. The central motif presents a stylized, abstract composition of three figures rendered in geometric, graphic lines, stripes, grids, and hatching, creating a dynamic effect typical of postwar modernism. The whimsical, swirling hats atop the figures and white dots in the background evoke a night sky. The reverse bears the 'Wawel, made in Poland' mark, confirming authenticity. The plate measures 32.5 cm in diameter and 4.2 cm in height. It is preserved in very good condition, with the original hand-painted decoration intact and no visible signs of wear or restoration. This plate carries the voice of Polish modernism—bold yet light, as if the 1950s themselves wanted to express optimism and a belief in artistic freedom. The geometric lines and dynamic patterns tell a story of renewal, of a world rebuilding itself in search of harmony between form and expression. The black and white composition seems to converse with night and light, while the three figures—captured in confident contours—invite interpretation, suggesting themes of community, friendship, or simply the joy of creation. The plate may be displayed on a light surface or a low console, where the contrast of black and white will be accentuated. It can be paired with other modernist accents—such as plain glassware, minimalist candleholders, or geometric ceramics—to create a cohesive, collector-worthy arrangement. It fits seamlessly in a mid-century modern living room or in an eclectic interior where vintage meets contemporary design.
