ABOUT PRODUCTID 38541
The decorative plate 'Zamczysko' is a striking example of Polish New Look design, produced by Zakłady Porcelitu in Chodzież during the 1950s and 1960s. Crafted from porcelain stoneware, with a diameter of 32.5 cm and a height of approximately 4 cm, the piece is distinguished by its deep, glossy black surface and a bold, hand-applied white graphic. The central motif features a stylized, abstract castle with towers, domes, and geometric architectural elements, rendered in expressive, sketch-like lines. The smooth, glazed finish accentuates the graphic quality of the decoration. On the underside, the factory mark is visible beneath the glaze, and a practical hook allows the plate to be displayed as wall art. The condition is excellent, with no damage, chips, or signs of restoration. This plate echoes the spirit of Polish postwar modernism: a simplicity of form paired with assertive, dynamic decoration inspired by abstraction and architectural imagination of the 1950s. Black and white engage in a visual dialogue, while the sketchy lines recall the artistic experiments of an era when art and everyday life merged to create a new vision for the home. 'Zamczysko' tells the story of a time when dreams of modernity and avant-garde aesthetics found their way into everyday objects through skilled craftsmanship. The plate may serve as a centerpiece on the table—for fruit or small delicacies—or as a wall decoration using the original hanging hook. It fits seamlessly into interiors inspired by mid-century modern, modernist, or eclectic collector spaces. It can be paired with a simple, light tablecloth or a wooden tabletop to let its graphic qualities shine. The piece is equally suitable for display on a shelf or sideboard, alongside minimalist ceramics or glassware from the period.
