ABOUT PRODUCTID 17486
This silver figure of a pointer dog, poised in an attentive stance atop an oval base of highly polished, green-and-gray onyx, exemplifies refined Russian tabletop artistry from the turn of the 20th century. The dog is crafted in silver, bearing Russian hallmarks and the maker’s initials. Realistically sculpted musculature and the dynamic tension of the animal’s frame capture the spirit of late imperial realism. Striking details include eyes set with rubies, which lend the sculpture a vivid touch. The base measures 15 cm in length, 10.5 cm in width, and the full height is 7 cm, maintaining a harmonious proportion. Four ornate silver feet with scrolling shell motifs—in the Rococo manner—support the base and provide a subtly historic accent. The silver’s satin-matte finish, touched by natural warm-gray and olive patina especially at the rim and legs, reinforces its authentic antique status. The preservation is very good: the piece shows no signs of damage or restoration, and the gentle patina is typical for quality silverwork of this age.The silver pointer, resting silently on its onyx base, evokes the loyal presence of a companion watching over a scholar’s desk or aristocratic salon. Its poised posture and carefully rendered anatomy echo a trust in tradition—an expression of Russian realism and an echo from the era just before monumental change. The ruby-set eyes
