The 'Cut Shapes 01' poster by Mentsen is a graphic interpretation of wood remnants left over from spatial design projects. The composition uses the Japanese woodblock printing technique to reproduce the natural woodgrain, then reimagines it as a set of abstract geometric forms. A monochromatic palette—blacks, off-whites, and greys—receives a matte finish, enhancing the tactile quality and clarity of the design. The poster is printed on paper and framed in a slim, light wood frame that complements its organic and modern character. The overall size is 50 x 50 cm. The poster’s form is balanced, with the interplay of simple shapes and subtle texture evoking the atmosphere of a studio where craft meets compositional discipline. Its minimalist visual language draws from modernist and mid-century design traditions, yet retains a distinct contemporary freshness. The work communicates calm and focus, suggesting that even transient materials can inspire new, abstract narratives. This poster works well in bright, modern spaces—against a white or grey wall, alongside furniture with clean lines and natural materials. It can be paired with minimalist shelves, ceramic vases, or artworks in muted tones. Combining it with cool-toned textiles or wooden accents highlights the design’s organic inspiration and brings a subtle graphic note to the interior.
