The Room 207 poster by Adrienna Matzeg for Paper Collective is a 50 × 70 cm composition on paper, inspired by the nightlife of the city and moments of escape from daily routines. The work is based on an original punch needle embroidery, giving the surface a pronounced, slightly raised texture with a matte finish. The artwork features everyday objects at its center: black cat-eye sunglasses, a yellow-gold ashtray with a cigarette, a green cocktail glass with an olive, a white napkin with a red lipstick mark, a pink key tag with a gold key, a red lipstick, and a blue matchbook. The background is rendered in a cool sage green, complemented by accents of black, red, pastel blue, gold, pink, and various shades of green. The composition’s style is contemporary with clear mid-century modern references, visible in the selection and arrangement of motifs. Each object is carefully spaced, ensuring balanced proportions and clarity. The piece conveys a sense of lightness and fleeting moments—familiar objects from daily rituals take on a symbolic quality. The embroidered texture enhances three-dimensionality and emphasizes the hand-crafted nature of the work, creating a sense of intimacy and authenticity. The color palette evokes associations with city lights at night and the atmosphere of a hotel room where nostalgia blends with contemporary sophistication. The overall effect is one of casual elegance, balanced between playfulness and aesthetic order. This poster works well in a modern living room, office, or bedroom, where it can be displayed solo against a neutral wall to highlight its detail and color scheme. It pairs effectively with minimalist furniture, light oak, or accents of metal and glass. Complementary textiles in sage, cream, or graphite tones enhance its appeal. For a
