ABOUT PRODUCTID 14109
This postmodern vase from the 1970s was crafted by the renowned Huta Hortensja glassworks in Piotrków Trybunalski, Poland. Its copper-colored, highly reflective glass body is reminiscent of a classical amphora: a broad, rounded belly tapers gracefully into a slender neck, finished with a flared rim, all balanced atop a circular pedestal base. The most distinctive feature lies in the pair of sculptural, hand-formed handles made from vibrant turquoise glass. With elegantly curled ends, the handles provide both graphic contrast and a tactile, artisanal quality that offsets the smooth, mirror-like copper surface. The body itself is perfectly smooth and glassy, while the handles reveal subtle variations from the individual glassworking process. The vase is preserved in very good vintage condition, with only minor surface scratches and localised signs of wear to the reflective coating, which serve as a testament to its period authenticity. The form of this piece speaks to an era when postmodernism invited playful dialogue with the past, blending classical motifs with bold, unexpected color juxtapositions. Its copper glass reflects light like an antique mirror, as the turquoise, dramatic handles command attention—together exemplifying the experimental spirit of the 1970s. Every aspect, from the proportions to the material quality, resonates with the social optimism and design bravado of its time, as if quietly declaring: “Modernity is not a break from tradition, but an invitation to startling conversations with it.”This vase could be paired with other colored glass objects or ceramics, especially in eclectic, collector-focused interiors. It sits comfortably alongside mid-century modern furniture, but also with bold postmodernist statements. Consider placing it on a low walnut table, a lacquered 1970s sideboard, or against a minimalist, neutral wall—where the mirrored surface amplifies light and the turquoise handles
