ABOUT PRODUCTID 13994
Designed by Zbigniew Horbowy in the 1970s for Huta Sudety, this vase embodies the postmodern explorations of Polish design. Pressed glass of substantial thickness forms the body, rendered in a vibrant turquoise hue with a seamless gradient: from luminous, lighter blue at the top to a deep, saturated turquoise at the base. The entire surface is adorned with a regular diamond-cut, pressed pattern, offering both geometric visual rhythm and a tactile presence. The silhouette presents a pronounced waist and flared rim, drawing on the organic proportions characteristic of late modernism merging with postmodern sensibilities in Central Europe. A high-gloss finish heightens the play of light and the depth of color. The condition is described as very good – with no visible damage, losses, or repairs, and all elements remaining original. This vase echoes the avant-garde spirit of 1970s Poland, when artistic glass became a canvas for experiments with color and light. Its dynamic form and turquoise brilliance evoke the boldness of an era where tradition yielded to new creative impulses. The geometric, pressed pattern reflects light in ever-changing ways, suggesting motion and narrating the story of a time marked by modernity's transformation – hinting at the ambition to elevate everyday objects to the level of art.The Zbigniew Horbowy vase can serve as a striking centrepiece atop a light wood sideboard or a steel console; paired with clean, modern forms, it accentuates its postmodern character. It will fit well within mid-century modern arrangements as well as in eclectic collections of glass and ceramics from the period. Consider combining it with neutral-toned textiles and accessories to highlight its turquoise gradient and geometric relief. It could be set alongside minimalist lighting or a single graphic 1970s poster to evoke the creative experiments in form and
