This Supraphon record player cabinet, produced in Czechoslovakia in 1959, exemplifies mid-century modern design through its balanced simplicity and functionality. The body is crafted from medium-brown wood veneer with a semi-gloss finish that subtly reflects light while maintaining the natural grain. The front is divided into two sections: the left is closed by sliding doors with a large, round, cream-colored knob, while the right is open, showcasing the original – now non-functional – turntable set on a metallic gray base with cream-colored accents. The interior of the open compartment features a lighter, honey-toned wood, creating a striking material contrast. The cabinet stands on four splayed, tapered legs in a darker wood, characteristic of the 1950s. The piece is in excellent, restored condition – no visible damage, scratches, or signs of heavy use; all knobs and legs appear original and well preserved.
