ABOUT PRODUCTID 34203
This rocking chair from the 1930s, attributed to the Austrian tradition of Valenti Thonet, is a distinctive example of Central European bentwood craftsmanship. The frame, finished in a matte walnut brown, features flowing lines and characteristic scrollwork, especially apparent in the armrests and base. The seat and backrest are hand-woven from natural rattan in a light, honey-beige shade, offering a gentle contrast to the darker frame. The proportions are harmonious—its high, rounded backrest and deep, wide seat ensure comfort, while the curved runners embody the classic relaxing function of a rocking chair. Traditional wooden joints are complemented by several visible non-original screws, and the surface displays patina, localized abrasions, and discolorations. The rattan seat is slightly sagged, emphasizing its authentic, time-honored character. The chair is in good condition, with original elements except for a few screws
