The Afshar rug, measuring 115 x 153 cm, is a handwoven Persian carpet from the mid-20th century, crafted by nomadic Afshar weavers in the Sirjan region of Kerman Province, Iran. Its design is defined by a rhythmic arrangement of three large, geometric diamond-shaped medallions set against a lighter ivory field, filled with stylized floral motifs, stars, and small symbolic tribal details that enrich both the medallions and the main field. The color palette is based on a deep, saturated brick red, complemented by vibrant navy blue, ivory, beige, light blue, and dark green. The rug is constructed on a cotton foundation, with a dense, tight wool weave that gives it a soft, matte texture. A wide border featuring a repeating floral star motif in ivory, navy, and red, enclosed by narrow guard stripes with geometric patterns, frames the whole composition. The condition is very good: the pile remains even and dense, the colors vivid, and the edges and short fringes are intact, with no significant signs of wear. This rug echoes the voice of Southern Persia in the 1950s and 1960s: its geometric discipline and decorative precision evoke images of tribal journeys
