This handwoven nomadic Beluch rug from Afghanistan measures 90 × 140 cm including fringes, and is crafted entirely from natural, handspun wool for both the pile and foundation. The surface has a matte finish, typical of unbleached wool, while the color palette – deep, warm reddish-brown, vibrant burnt orange, ochre, dark brown, with touches of ivory and black – forms a harmonious, geometric composition. Repeating diamond and cross motifs fill the central field, bordered by multiple intricate zigzag and chevron bands, expressing the tribal heritage and visual symmetry of the piece.
