This vintage Beluch rug, handwoven at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries by nomadic tribes in Afghanistan, is the result of traditional techniques passed down through generations. The weft is made of high-quality wool and the warp of cotton, resulting in a dense, compact structure approximately 9 mm thick and with a knot density of about 160,000 knots per square meter. The composition is based on a geometric layout: the central field is divided into rectangular panels adorned with star and cross motifs, while the upper section features a stylized mihrab—an architectural prayer niche. Wide borders, rich in repetitive tribal patterns, create a harmonious frame. The main color is a warm, muted beige, enriched with deep browns, navy blues, and cream highlights. Visible cotton fringes and a matte, slightly worn wool pile emphasize the rug’s authenticity. The overall condition is good: there are subtle signs of age, with gentle wear on the fringes and edges, but no significant damage.
