This hand-knotted Persian Bidjar rug from Iran, measuring 85 by 128 cm including fringes, exemplifies the traditional craftsmanship of the Kurdish region of Bidjar. Made from high-quality wool on a cotton foundation, it is distinguished by its dense, heavy construction and a knot density of approximately 200,000 knots per square meter. The warm ivory background sets the stage for a rich palette: deep reds, navy blues, and subtle accents of green, light blue, and pink. The border, in saturated dark red with floral motifs and navy accents, frames the central geometric medallion surrounded by symmetrical floral and Herati-mahi patterns. The pile is soft and slightly lustrous, with hand-knotted natural white fringes completing the look. With a pile height of about 10 mm, the rug is robust and compact. It is preserved in very good condition, with an even pile and vivid colors, showing no visible signs of damage or repairs. This rug speaks with the voice of Persia, where skill and durability are woven into every piece and passed down through generations
