ABOUT PRODUCTID 28974
This hand-knotted Persian Bidjar rug from Iran (early 20th century), measuring 110 × 180 cm including fringes, exemplifies the classic craftsmanship of the Takab region. Made from high-quality wool pile on a cotton foundation, the rug is dense, heavy, and compact, with a smooth, slightly lustrous surface. The primary hue is a cool, deep red, enriched by navy blue, ivory, light blue, pink, and beige, resulting in a multi-colored yet harmonious palette. A central, diamond-shaped medallion with intricate Herati-mahi motifs is set within a densely patterned field of floral and geometric elements. The wide border is adorned with stylized rosettes and blossoms in shades of burgundy and ivory. The edges are neatly finished, and the fringes are intact and clean. The knot density is approximately 300,000 knots per square meter, and the pile thickness is around 10 mm. The rug is in very good vintage condition, showing only minimal, age-appropriate signs of use
