ABOUT PRODUCTID 28972
The hand-knotted Persian Bidjar Takab rug originates from western Iran, a region renowned for its resilient and meticulously crafted textiles. Measuring 73 × 105 cm (including fringes), it belongs to the category of compact rugs suitable for living rooms or studies. With a knot density of approximately 490,000 knots/m² and a thickness of about 10 mm, the rug is densely woven and notably heavy. The weft is made from high-quality wool while the warp is cotton. This piece exemplifies classic Bidjar style: a central diamond-shaped medallion is surrounded by a dense field of Herati (mahi) motifs, and the wide border features stylized floral and vine patterns. Deep reds and navy blues dominate the palette, offset by ivory, gold, green, and light blue accents. The pile is lustrous and soft to the touch, and the fringes are white, hand-tied. The overall condition is very good, with vibrant colors, intact edges and fringes, and no visible damage or wear. The Bidjar Takab rug echoes the story of Kurdish craftsmanship from the late 19th and early 20th centuries—an era when durability was synonymous with status.
