ABOUT PRODUCTID 28939
This hand-knotted Bidjar Takab rug, crafted in Iran during the 1970s, is a testament to classic Kurdish Persian weaving. Made from tightly woven wool pile on a cotton foundation, it features a robust, heavy construction and a lustrous, smooth surface approximately 10 mm thick. The all-over Herati-mahi pattern blends deep burgundy red with navy, ivory, green, blue, gold, and rust, producing a rich multicolor effect. A broad, light-toned border with stylized floral and vine motifs is framed by fine navy and burgundy stripes, while evenly trimmed light blue fringes complete the composition. The edges are neatly finished with sharp corners, highlighting the high-quality craftsmanship. Its proportions and design are characteristic of traditional Bidjar rugs, often referred to as the “iron carpets of Persia” for their exceptional durability. The overall condition is very good—no stains, holes, or repairs—making this piece ready for both everyday use and collector display. This rug speaks in the voice of the 1970s and the enduring traditions of Kurdish artisans: every knot tells a story of patient skill and timeless precision. The dense Herati-mahi pattern draws the eye
