ABOUT PRODUCTID 42299
This hand-knotted Persian Bidjar Takab rug, measuring 205 x 310 cm, exemplifies the traditional craftsmanship of early 20th-century Iran, specifically from the esteemed Takab region. Crafted from high-quality, lustrous sheep wool, it features a dense, robust pile—characteristic of Bidjar rugs, often referred to as the 'iron carpets of Persia.' The surface displays a subtle sheen, while the composition is monumental: a multi-layered hexagonal central medallion is framed by a dense geometric-floral Herati field and a wide border with stylized floral and vine motifs. The palette is built on deep cherry, navy blue, and ivory, accented with muted gold. Edges are finished with hand-knotted light fringes. The rug is preserved in excellent, original condition, with no visible signs of wear, damage, or restoration—fringes and borders remain authentic and intact. Within its weave, one can hear the voice of Kurdish masters from a century ago, transforming compact, resilient wool into heirlooms meant to outlast generations. Each knot and color tells a tale of regal Persian interiors—places where evening light rests on cherry-red fields and tea cools amid ornamental forms. This rug speaks of endurance and order
