ABOUT PRODUCTID 41970
This hand-knotted Bidjar Takab rug, measuring 285 × 385 cm, originates from Iran and exemplifies the tradition of Kurdish weaving from the 1990s. The pile is made of high-quality wool with a subtle sheen, densely woven at approximately 250,000 knots per square meter, and anchored on a sturdy cotton foundation. The deep, saturated red of the central field is punctuated by a large, symmetrical medallion in beige, navy, and light blue, further enriched with gold and terracotta highlights. The classic Herati (mahi) pattern—delicate, repeating fish and floral motifs—spans the entire surface, while a broad navy border features intricate scrolling vines and stylized flowers. Spandrels in ivory and blue add refined contrast. Edges are finished with red binding, and short fringes complete the composition. The rug is in very good condition, showing no visible wear, stains, or damage; edges and corners remain clearly defined.Within this textile resonates the voice of Persian Bidjar—a region long renowned for the density and weight of its carpets. The robust structure, often called the 'iron carpet of Persia,' evokes the endurance and patience of master weavers. The color palette, reminiscent of a sunset over the Iranian plateau, brings an atmosphere of calm and dignity, while the rhythmic Herati ornamentation hints at gatherings, tradition, and evenings spent
