This Dżuszegan rug, measuring approximately 255 × 380 cm, is a testament to the centuries-old weaving tradition of central-western Iran. Handwoven from high-quality wool on a cotton foundation, the rug features a dense, compact texture (approx. 250,000 knots/m²) and a medium pile height of about 9 mm. Its composition is anchored by a large, diamond-shaped central medallion with intricate geometric motifs, surrounded by a field of small, repetitive floral and geometric patterns. The wide border is richly adorned with alternating floral and geometric designs, primarily in ivory and red, accented with navy, brown, and light blue—colors achieved with natural dyes, enhanced by the gentle oxidation of the wool. The edges are finished with traditional fringes. Condition: good, with localized areas of worn pile, especially in high-traffic zones, as visible in the photos.The design recalls the atmosphere of classical Persian gardens: the grid-like arrangement of compartments evokes the network of canals and pools that once formed the heart of Persian art and daily life.
