This Ghom rug, handwoven in the sacred city of Qom in central Persia, exemplifies the highest tradition of Persian craftsmanship. It is crafted from select wool shorn from the neck of sheep, featuring a silk weft and cotton warp. The composition is marked by a harmonious interplay of floral and geometric motifs: the wide border is adorned with repeated flowers and arabesques, while the central, octagonal medallion is layered with intricate detailing.
