Handwoven in Pakistan in the 1990s, this Ghom rug stands out thanks to its densely detailed, Persian-inspired pattern—here interpreted by South Asian traditional craft. Against an ivory, creamy ground, a rich composition of medallions, floral bouquets, and arabesques unfolds in deep navy, burgundy, forest green, soft gold, pale pink, and subtle sky blue. The pile is tightly knotted, semi-lustrous, and pleasantly short, crafted from fine wool on a cotton foundation, with smooth hand-knotted fringe providing structural framing. The wide cherry-red border adorned with recurring flower rosettes and slender geometric lines adds rhythm and definition to the whole. The rug is preserved in good condition, showing only gentle signs of use such as slightly dulled high-traffic passages and lightly worn edges, but no significant damage.The design language evokes the ornamental abundance of late 20th-century Ghom tradition, as Pakistani master weavers rendered the iconic Persian motifs in their own regional dialect.
