The Ghoum/Qom rug, measuring 145 × 105 cm, hand-knotted in Iran in the 1990s, exemplifies the artisanal tradition of Qom—renowned for its silk weaving heritage. Crafted entirely from natural silk on a silk warp, it features a luminous, cool sheen and a delicately soft surface. The central field is rendered in creamy beige, while intricate, symmetrical floral and arabesque motifs unfold in medallions of deep red, navy, and sky blue, accented by forest green and terracotta. A wide, dark navy border, densely filled with palmettes and stylized florals and finished with a pinkish-red binding, frames the rug's architectural composition. The pile is dense and even, with no wear, repairs, or restoration visible, and the original silk fringes on the short ends remain intact.
