The Giant Linear Stem Walnut rug by Orla Kiely is a hand-tufted wool model measuring 120 × 180 cm. The thick, plush pile and distinct texture variation between the background and the raised pattern result from the artisanal tufting technique. A deep, matte brown base anchors the bold graphic motif: a centrally placed, vertical stem in light beige branches symmetrically into stylized leaves. Edges are neatly finished, and the surface remains even and cohesive throughout. The design reflects a mid-century modern aesthetic, balancing simplicity of form with striking geometry. The rug’s restrained, graphic pattern creates visual order and rhythm, evoking associations with 1960s poster art. The brown base conveys warmth and stability, while the light stem motif enlivens the composition, drawing the eye to its details. The interplay of soft, rounded shapes and a clear line recalls classic retro style, yet feels distinctly suited to contemporary interiors. This rug is well suited for living rooms or lounge areas, where it can serve as a focal point on light, smooth floors. It can be paired with simple sofas in beige, caramel, or olive textiles, or contrasted with black metal side tables or iridescent lamps. Surrounded by wood, ceramics, and textiles with natural textures, the linear stem motif emphasizes the graphic order of the space; paired with posters or geometric cushions, it forms a cohesive, modern composition. The pile weight is 4500 g/m², resulting in a substantial, pleasantly soft texture. Wool is an eco-friendly material, resistant to deformation and durable in use. The rug remains stable on the floor, and the colors retain their intensity even with frequent use.
