ABOUT PRODUCTID 19463
This handwoven nomadic Hamadan rug from northwestern Iran, dating from the early to mid-20th century, is crafted from dense, matte-finished wool on a cotton foundation. Measuring approximately 107 × 165 cm, the surface reveals a saturated, warm reddish-pink base, accented with brown, beige, white, black, yellow, and pale green details. At its centre lies a geometric medallion framed by stylised botanical motifs, while the borders display several elaborately patterned bands with floral and geometric ornamentation. The dense, slightly plush pile features subtle variations, bearing the unique hallmarks of hand craftsmanship, and the matte wool finish accentuates its authentic character. Shorter edges are finished with white cotton fringes in keeping with local weaving traditions. The condition is very good, with minimal signs of age confined to the ends; the edges and corners remain firm, showing no significant signs of restoration or wear.Within this Hamadan rug is woven the story of rural Persia: its geometric medallion and deep reds recall the daily ritual and festive spirit of the Iranian countryside. Handcrafted irregularities and naturally dyed
