This hand-knotted, nomadic Hamadan rug from northwestern Iran is a textile narrative rooted in the ancient traditions of the region, whose heritage stretches back to Ecbatana of antiquity. Measuring 205 by 330 cm including fringes, it is crafted from high-quality wool on a cotton foundation. The dominant hue is a deep, warm red, punctuated by accents of dark indigo, cream, orange, and light blue. A central geometric medallion is surrounded by dense, repeating floral and abstract motifs, with layered borders featuring stylized elements in lighter red, blue, cream, and black—hallmarks of Hamadan rugs. The weave is tight and even, with a knot density of approximately 200,000 knots per square meter, resulting in a compact, soft, and subtly lustrous pile about 10 mm thick. Edges and fringes remain intact;
