This hand-knotted Hamadan rug from northwestern Iran, measuring 80 x 134 cm, reflects a centuries-old weaving tradition. The dense wool pile is set on a cotton foundation, providing both durability and clarity of design. Its composition features three central geometric medallions, filled with angular tribal motifs characteristic of Hamadan craftsmanship. The broad border is adorned with repeating geometric and stylized floral patterns, framed by several narrow guard stripes. The palette is rich: deep, saturated red dominates, complemented by navy, ivory, brown, and pale blue accents. The surface is subtly coarse, with visible handwork creating slight irregularities in the pattern and edges, affirming its authenticity as a tribal, nomadic Persian piece from the early to mid-20th century.
