This hand-knotted Indo-Heriz rug, measuring 215 x 315 cm including fringes, exemplifies the classic tradition of Persian-inspired oriental design as interpreted by contemporary Indian artisans. The dense wool pile displays a subtle sheen and is set on a durable cotton foundation, resulting in a compact and soft texture. The dominant warm terracotta hue is contrasted by deep navy blue and ivory, accentuated by touches of light blue, beige, and salmon pink. The central medallion and richly ornamented border feature bold geometric forms and stylized floral motifs, characteristic of Heriz patterns originating from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
