ABOUT PRODUCTID 10596
This antique Kazak rug from 19th-century Azerbaijan is a handwoven artifact representing the rich tradition of Caucasian nomadic craftsmanship. Made entirely from high-quality, naturally dyed wool, its dense structure (approx. 300,000 knots/m2) and thickness of about 9 mm are testaments to meticulous handwork. The rug’s primary tone is a warm, brick red with a matte, softly faded finish, complemented by deep indigo, muted orange, yellow, green, blue, and ecru. Three large diamond-shaped medallions dominate the central field, intricately filled with geometric motifs. Smaller forms animate the background, while a broad, multi-banded border features repeating stylized flowers and cross patterns in blue, green, red, and ivory. The edges are finished with simple, hand-knotted fringes. The pile is visibly worn in the center and along the borders, with authentic patina and thinning, attesting to its age.
