The Keshan carpet, measuring approximately 295 × 385 cm, exemplifies the tradition of Central Persian craftsmanship from the early 20th century. Its construction is based on a tightly hand-knotted pile of high-quality, twisted wool (approx. 300,000 knots/m², pile height around 10 mm), with a cotton foundation and cotton fringes. The dominant field, in a luminous, deep crimson, contrasts with a central medallion executed in navy blue, cream, gold, and subtle shades of green and blue. The multi-stripe border, in indigo, cream, and pale blue, is richly filled with stylized floral motifs and elaborate arabesques. Balanced proportions and intricate symmetrical ornament place this carpet firmly in the classical Keshan tradition.
