This antique Persian Sarough Arak rug, measuring 68 × 125 cm, dates from around 1920 and exemplifies the refined craftsmanship of the Arak region at the turn of the Qajar and early Pahlavi periods. Hand-knotted from high-quality wool on a robust cotton foundation, it displays a dense, compact weave and a velvety surface. The central field is dominated by a saturated magenta-rose hue, featuring a geometric medallion surrounded by stylized vegetal scrolls and floral buds. The inky navy border, densely decorated with small floral motifs in muted green, ochre, light blue, and beige, frames the composition with visual strength.
