ABOUT PRODUCTID 42260
This handwoven Shirvan rug from Azerbaijan, measuring 250 × 128 cm, exemplifies the classic craftsmanship of the Caucasus from the second half of the 20th century. Made entirely of high-quality wool, the rug features a flat, densely knotted weave and a short pile approximately 4 mm thick. The dominant matte red field is accented by beige, golden ochre, and dark brown tones. The central area is densely decorated with small, meticulously arranged geometric and tribal motifs, framed by a wide border adorned with star and hook patterns. Hand-knotted fringes and the woven inscription "AZERBAIJAN" attest to its authenticity. The rug is preserved in very good condition, with no visible signs of wear or restoration. This piece carries the narrative of Caucasian tradition: the density of the weave and precision of ornamentation reveal a centuries-old attention to detail, while the repetition of motifs recalls tribal stories passed down through generations. The color palette and flat profile suggest both utility and sophistication—each knot a silent witness to domestic rituals and daily gatherings. It is a subtle presence, enhancing the character of any space while preserving the dignity of artisan creation. The Shirvan rug is well-suited for a grand hallway, on the floor of a mid-century modern living room, or within an eclectic collector’s interior, where it could be paired with wooden consoles, minimalist sofas, or ceramic accents. It can also be displayed as a wall hanging, turning its intricate pattern into textile art. A dark backdrop
