ABOUT PRODUCTID 39177
The Stem Black 200x280 cm rug is a hand-tufted wool piece designed by Orla Kiely. Its thick, soft pile creates a matte, tactile surface featuring a distinctive graphic floral motif – a semicircular, saturated orange flower head set against a cream background, with a stylized black stem and pairs of symmetrical black leaves anchored in an olive-green field. The composition is geometric and balanced, with clean, straight edges. The color blocks and stylized forms evoke the iconic language of mid-century modern, blending retro sensibility with a contemporary attitude. The rug communicates a sense of graphic order and visual clarity – the interplay of saturated color fields with the stark black stem generates a fresh, energetic effect. The motif, though simplified, possesses a rhythmic softness that transforms the rug into both a decoration and a textile illustration. In this form, Orla Kiely’s design becomes a contemporary statement of joy and boldness in interior styling. The rug works well in living spaces with light walls and simple solid wood furniture, allowing the color palette to take center stage. It can be paired with low coffee tables in white, black, or natural oak, as well as textiles in cream, sage, or deep green to enhance compositional harmony. Surrounded by lamps with simple geometric shapes and ceramic accents, the pattern gains additional depth. It is worth combining with wall art inspired by the 1960s or modern graphic posters. The rug has a pile weight of 4500 g/m² and features a soft, naturally durable wool pile. It is hand-tufted, has a matte finish, and offers color fastness. Designed for indoor use, it lies flat on the floor, is environmentally friendly, and comes with a two-year warranty.
