ABOUT PRODUCTID 36161
The 'Ida' saucer is a notable example of mid-century Polish design, created by Wincenty Potacki for the Ćmielów Porcelain Factory in 1962. Crafted from fine, smooth-glazed porcelain, the saucer features a bold geometric arrangement: a glossy mustard yellow dominates the surface, accented by a creamy white center and radiating 'ray' motifs. The rim is finished with a delicate hand-painted gold line, highlighting the craftsmanship and refined character of the piece. Its proportions are classic for a saucer—with a gently raised edge and a central well for the cup. The Ćmielów 'made in Poland' mark attests to the piece's authenticity and the long-standing tradition of this Polish manufactory. The saucer is preserved in very good condition, with no chips, cracks, or signs of restoration. This porcelain saucer tells the story of the 1960s—a time when Polish applied arts embraced modern forms while honoring elegance. The 'Ida' pattern reflects the optimism and creative boldness of the era: geometric lines and sunlit colors echo modernist ideals, while the gilded detail signals a respect for the rituals and gestures of the table. Like a ray from the heart of the table, the saucer invites convivial moments and unhurried coffee conversations. It can be paired with matching cups to create a complete mid-century modern coffee set, but it would also complement an eclectic porcelain collection as a distinctive accent for breakfast or coffee service. It pairs well with simple white ceramics, subtly tinted glassware, or classic cutlery, emphasizing its color and graphic qualities. Wooden trays or a linen tablecloth in neutral tones provide an excellent backdrop, enhancing the warmth of the yellow and the finesse of the gold.
